Parish Council
C
oordinates and plans for the development of the parish as a faith community under the guidance of the pastor. Parishioners are nominated from the parish at large and selected through a lottery process for position on the council. Advisory council to the Pastor. Meetings are on the 4th Monday each month. Open to all parishioners. If you have an item to be considered on the agenda, please submit to the Chairperson at least two weeks prior to the next meeting.

Buildings And Grounds

T
his volunteer ministry bridges the gap between staff who are responsible for ordinary custodial and light maintenance and external contracting companies who are called to maintain major structural and mechanical systems. This ministry is responsible for maintaining our parish facilities, keeping them safe and presentable through electrical work, plumbing, painting, and other necessary effort. Also assists the pastor in setting facility administrative and utilization policies to promote fellowship and community goodwill.

Finance Council

A
cts as an advisory group to assist the Pastor, other staff and volunteer committees to establish and manage the parish budget. This Council meets monthly to review operating expenses. In addition, the Council members meet to review budgets and expenses with respective operating committees.

Fall Festival

T
his is our largest parish activity and is truly a fun event. It provides all people the opportunity to meet most of our parishioners and a significant number of the LaGrange community who may not be members of our Parish.

Fall Festival Planning Committee: Begins planning the festival several months in advance. Parishioners needed to solicit volunteers, donations, plan events, coordinate Turkey Dinner, and implement publicity.

Fall Festival Volunteer: Many volunteers needed the day and evening of the festival to work in the kitchen, dining rooms, booths, and more.

God’s Housekeepers

T
his volunteer ministry does weekly light cleaning and dusting of our new church space and altar areas. Parish staff performs all floor and restroom maintenance.

Health Ministry and Parish Nursing

T
his ministry has as its primary role the provision of health and wellness education and support to parishioners. It includes monthly blood pressure screenings and providing of age-appropriate health and wellness information.

Welcome Committee

This ministry is organized to welcome new parishioners into our Parish family and encourage them to become actively involved in parish life. All parishioners were new once and all are encouraged to take an active part in this most important process.

W
elcome new parishioners into our parish by being a host at our Welcome Weekend receptions, which are scheduled throughout the year. Also help to prepare welcome packets, contact new parishioners by phone and/or mail with an invitation to the reception.

RCIA Sponsor/Team Member

T
he Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is for those who are seeking to learn more about our Catholic Faith. Sponsors attend weekly sessions to support and affirm the catechumens and candidates. Team members share faith experiences with those who are attending the RCIA classes. Volunteers are also needed to provide refreshments for these weekly classes which are held from September through Easter time.

PREP Teacher/Aide

Parish
Religious Education Program classes provide faith formation, including sacramental preparation, for our parish children attending public school (Preschool through 8th grade). PREP meets on Sundays between the Masses from 9:10-10:20a, September through May. We need catechists, i.e. adults who will lead or co-lead these classes! You don’t have to be an expert, just have a willingness to offer your time and talent to teach our children the fundamentals of our faith!  If you enjoy learning about your faith and working with young people, this may be the perfect ministry for you!  Catechists receive outstanding support from the parish, including the request to become certified through the Archdiocese.

Saint Mary Academy

Saint Mary Academy is a Catholic regional school which serves eastern Jefferson County, Oldham and other surrounding counties.  Saint Mary is a merger between Immaculate Conception Parish School and Mother of Good Counsel Parish School in Jefferson County.  The projected date for the regional school to have a unified campus is Fall 2009.

Saint Mary Academy offers a Catholic educational program for grades K-8.  Our mission is to guide our students in the Catholic faith and to provide them with an excellent elementary education.  Our vision is for our children to become responsible, moral, intelligent adults who are committed to community and possess a true sense of God and mission in their lives.

Your opportunities for stewardship in assisting in the mission of our school are endless.  Help is needed with daily activities and special events during the school day.  Volunteers help in the cafeteria, monitor the playground, and assist the teachers and school secretary.

School Board

A
ssists the principal in the governance of the parish school. Areas of responsibility include planning, policy formulation, fiscal management, public relations and marketing. Members are elected for a three-year term.

Immaculate Conception Preschool

A
ssists preschoolers with formation of religious, social and basic academic skills appropriate for their age level with separate programs for 3 and 4 year olds. Also provides after school care for preschool through grade 6. Volunteer to help with field trips, tell a story or teach a craft.

Vacation Bible School

A fun-filled, week-long summer program of activities, games and crafts centered on Biblical themes that is usually held in June! Our goal is to ignite enthusiasm for our Catholic faith and God’s Word!  Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a whole community event for children in preschool through grade 5, teens in middle & high school, and adults!

Youth Ministry

A
llows both middle and high school youth to share faith, fellowship, and social outings directed to lead them to a greater understanding of the faith and their role in the Church and our parish mission.

Our middle and high school youth do participate in many outreach activities.

Athletic Association

T
eaches our children the rules of fair play and sportsmanship for seasonal sports. Volunteer coaches needed for all programs.

Stewardship Committee

S
eeks to bond the parish family by instilling a sense of ownership through the results of members giving their time, talent and treasure for the good of their Parish and community. Coordinates annual Ministry Fair and Stewardship Intention Annual Renewal.

Garden Club
Provides opportunity to learn new gardening techniques and share your own green thumb successes. Plans, creates and maintains gardens on the parish complex.

Hospitality Committee
Ushers and greeters make up this committee by assisting those who come to worship, helping with the orderly reception of Communion, and handling any emergency that may arise.  Ushers take up the collection and make sure the assembly area is cleaned up after Mass.  Greeters pass out song sheets to all who enter for Mass and bulletins to all who leave.    Contact:  Bruce Queenan 243-3535
